Accounts Receivable Team Leader – Spain & Portugal

Main Purpose of Job

• To be accountable for the leadership and management of the AR team for Spain, Portugal HQ and virtual countries, ensuring the DSO and other key financial performance targets are met.
• To be accountable of managing and standardising processes in virtual countries ensuring the DSO and other key financial performance targets are met.
• Managing people by developing and motivating team, and working effectively through direct reports.
• Empowering team members by engaging them in decision-making, problem solving and the development of performance standards.
Main Responsibilities
Effective management of Accounts Receivable activities
• Responsible for the compliance with agreed processes and controls
• Responsible and monitoring monthly KPIs to achieve the monthly/annual targets
• Assist for DSO budget
• Calculate impact of payment terms changes on DSO
• Responsible for Sarbanes Oxley compliance for the countries
• Be the point of contact with the local country to escalate issues for resolution within the escalation time frame.
• Liaise with other departments (OTD, finance, local countries)
Identify and champion business process improvement
• Develop, implement and monitor cross country best practices
• Generates new ideas and initiative goes beyond the status quo
• Evaluates new or modified approaches and ideas with an open mind
• Brings perspectives and approaches together, combining them in creative ways
Communication
• Develop effective relationship with internal and external customers
• Escalate issues and propose solution
People Management
• Working with HR, recruit, select and train new team members
• Responsible for the administrative management of the team members (including holidays, training and development courses and performance reviews)
• Providing clear direction to the team so that they can perform at the required standards
• Manage disagreements: brings substantive conflicts and disagreements into the open and attempts to resolve them collaboratively; strives for win/win solutions.
TEAM LEADER Virtual countries
• Standardise processes across countries with SSC processes
• Accountable of the AR processes & KPI’s
• Agree on common objectives
• Work on process improvement across virtual and SSC countries
• Understand local business
• Effective communication with virtual team
Dimensions / KPIs
• Overview of the month including calculation of DSO
• Analysis of the past due
• Payment terms analysis for the top 5 clients
• Analysis of the deductions
• Monthly European scorecard
• Quarterly AR benchmark

Required Experience and Qualifications
• Strong Accounts Receivable experience in a multinational blue chip or FMCG organisation.
• Strong people management experience, ideally in a multi cultural environment
• Trade credit experience working with large corporate customers is essential
• Must have worked towards a DSO/DBO target
• Ability to demonstrate delivery of successful process/procedure improvements
• Experience of presenting to management/director level
• Experience of working with virtual countries (desirable)
• ICM Qualification (desirable)
Please note that this role is for an initial 12 month contract.
