Our client is a startup company, that offers a unique consumer premium service targeted at the high end job market. It massively aggregates jobs starting from € 60k from the open job market and offers confidential access to the "hidden job market" through a discrete network with thousands of headhunters. Our client provides a truly superior user experience in a subscription based model for consumers with high end career ambitions. The company successfully built this disruptive business model in Germany and expanded into the European geography with seven versions.

 

                                                                                                           
At present our client is looking for a Country Manager Netherlands to kick start the Dutch business.

 

ROLE PURPOSE

 

The Country Manager is the end-to-end business owner for the Dutch market. This entails positioning the brand, defining the value proposition, and transferring this messaging framework into the localization of the French version. This leadership role is also responsible for the initial localization of the product, build distribution into B2C and B2B targets and to hire the team as needed. The Country Manager will carry out an effective Go-To-Market and drive the business to a financial break even within a reasonable timeframe, i.e. 2 years.

 

This is a key strategic role for our client.

LOCATION: Munich or London. Later relocation into the Netherlands possible - depending on development of the Dutch business.

ENGAGEMENT MODEL

·         Reports to Head of International

·         Sharing / learning / best practices sharing with COO / other CMs

RESPONSIBILITY

·          Define local market positioning and messaging, both B2C and B2B.

·          Own in country user experience post beta phase

o          Translate and scrub product (language, visuals; etc.)

o          Own and manage all product elements, which can be adjusted for local marketing

o          Give feedback / requirements on all product elements part of  "core application"

·          Build team

o           Job Team Supervisor

o          Student team of 5-10 researchers

o          B2B Mktg/Sales specialist, Support

·        Plan and execute Dutch P&L

o       Revenues

o       People Cost

o       Mktg Costs

o       Own Operating Margin

·        Build local business within launch investment of  ~€ 500k to a breakeven point

IMMEDIATE GOALS

·        Aggregate 2.000 to 4.000 jobs within 1-2 quarters

·        Build SEM and SEO asap

·        Setup ~5 website partnerships with high end branded websites (i.e. news, finance, business, men)

·        Buy remnant inventory at portals (Y!, MSN,  ...) and agencies (Mediacom, advertising.com, etc. )

·        Leverage existing creative material and build great local marketing materials

·        Build signup pipeline of 1.000 new weekly members within 3-6 months and scale above 1.500 within 12 months

·        Build team as appropriate / meaningful

·        Monetization: Break thru EUR 50K revenue per month within 1 year.

TIMING

·           Silent Launch: 2 months after hire date. 

REQUIREMENTS

Entrepreneurial Personality

The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial personality and gained seasoned business management background in highly professional environments - ideally at leading players in the sectors: consumer internet, electronic media, FMCG. He/she should have worked in rapidly changing consumer environments and in international organizations, ideally in a matrixed environment. This individual should be delivery focused and be able to add substantially to the strategic debate.  He/she should have drive, energy and the "will to win".  This person should be able to build, develop and motivate an effective team in a team oriented leadership style.  If you can identify with the following dimensions, you will enjoy working at our client's and will be able to succeed:

·         Expertise in online marketing both acquisition and retention/customer marketing

·         Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities

·         Strong understanding of subscription business model KPI

·         Offline and direct marketing skills are a plus

·         Dutch mother tongue, fluent in English and ideally another European language

A high quality academic background, i.e. master of a leading business school, is a plus.
